Oh hey, Night City Magaziners! You know her, you love her, you wanna be her! We sat down with THE Thea Flux and asked her 487 questions! Learn all about her daily gigs, and how to live just like her! NCM: So, we all know you’re a Rockerboy, famously got your start with The Wandering Dolls, and now solo (not the merc kind). But what’s your day job really look like? Flux: I’m so glad you asked that question! I know it’s easy to think of me as this effortlessly flawless musician living the dream life but there’s a lot more to it! When I’m not gigging, I’m grinding! This life doesn’t come easy, and I’m out for blood! NCM: Wow! Gigging and grinding! Well, inquiring minds MUST know, how do you get around Night City? You have to have some crazy wheels! Flux: Actually, I don’t! Ever since an unfortunate accident with an unskilled driver, I much prefer to take the subway these days. Plus, I can treat the world to my music on the go! NCM: OMG, you’re so generous! Well, if you don’t roll in style, you must live in style, right? Flux: Now I’ve slummed it before in my life. The “starving artist” trope is real. But there are certain things a girl must have. I have a gorgeous Cube Hotel in Haywood that’s all I need! NCM: You? Slumming it? I can’t imagine that! That must’ve been a past life! Flux: Oh no! I actually came to Night City with my mother as a child from a small city in Russia to get away from the war and poverty. We came here with nothing, and my mother eventually started a small seamstress shop that she still runs today! She inspired my incredible sense of fashion… and my cutthroat determination! NCM: What a tragic backstory! Do you have an object or token that keeps you grounded? Flux: Well I never leave home without my keytar, obviously! But if I had to share something that has sentimental value, it would be a rag-doll my mother made me for my first birthday in the NUSA. I keep it in a very special place to always remind me where I came from and to fight every day for more. NCM: That’s so touching! It sounds like you mom is a very close person to you. Are there others in your circle? Flux: Of course! My mother and I are close, in a way. But I have to give a huge shout out to my manager and friend Tip Tippovich who has been extremely instrumental (pun intended) in my life! We met when he managed The Wandering Dolls, and after the tragic suspicious bus accident where he and I were the only survivors, we grew even closer. He’s like a father to me in many ways. I also have a new friend who I have done some trauma bonding with, though he was, ahem, underground for a while, but his name is Balor and he is a refugee like me but from Ireland. I am always meeting new and fascinating people! I recently had a run-in with an aspiring moto-BD performer who has a cool new shard! You should check it out (link in my bio!)
